What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and show relevant advertising. Similar technologies include pixels, web beacons and local storage, and we refer to all of them as "cookies" here.
Types of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary: needed for the site to work and stay secure, such as remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off.
- Preferences: remember settings you choose so the site works the way you like.
- Analytics: help us understand which pages are visited and how people move through the site (for example, Google Analytics). The data is aggregated.
- Advertising: used by our advertising partners, such as Google and Mediavine, to show and measure ads and to show interest-based ads.
- Affiliate and social: set by retailers (for example Amazon) when you click an affiliate link, and by services such as Pinterest, Instagram or YouTube when you interact with their content.
- Email: our email provider may track whether an email was opened or a link was clicked.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are placed by third parties, such as advertising and analytics partners and the retailers we link to. We do not control them, so please see their own policies for details.
Your choices
- Cookie banner: where required, you can accept, reject or customize non-essential cookies when you first visit, and change your mind at any time through the cookie settings link on the site.
- Browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
- Global Privacy Control: we honor this browser signal where the law requires it.
- Advertising opt-outs: optout.aboutads.info, optout.networkadvertising.org, adssettings.google.com and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
